AWARDS RECEIVED
- 1998 Received the Eugenio Espejo Medal, The
Government of Ecuador's highest award for achievements in
Journalism, as a Community Recognition for Services to Hispanics.
It was presented by Mr. Pat McCrory, Mayor of Charlotte, N.C.
- Honorable Assignment: Recently, I was hired by NBC-TV to be
the simultaneous interpreter for Clinton / Dole debate, in San
Diego, and for 1997's State of the Union Address. It was estimated that
President Clinton reached an audience of 130 million Hispanics. I
consider the last one the most honorable assignment of my career.
- 1988 Recipient of Nobel Prize of Peace, for Services
to the United Nations.
- Founder and President of Carolina Polyglot, Inc. A
translating / Interpreting and Tutorial company, serving both Carolinas
since 1971. This Company is a Corporate Member of the American
Translators Association (ATA), working with 52 languages.
- Founding Member of the Carolina Association of
Translators and Interpreters (CATI).
- Over 50 bilingual articles published, and over 2,000 translations,
numerous court and conference interpretations, were made.
- Staff Writer in Spanish and English for "El Progreso
Hispano" newspaper.
